Got Jesus?

No matter what you have done, or how messed up you think you are. God still loved you enough to send his Son, Jesus to save you.
Here is my story and experience I hope it helps you answer your questions.

From my heart

I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the God who created the Universe as described in the Holy Bible.
I believe that Jesus died to pay for My sins so that I can go to Heaven. I believe that he came back to life after being dead for 3 days, and he now lives in Heaven with God the Father.
There is nothing that I can do to earn my way into Heaven, it is a gift from God that I can never pay for. The gift of Heaven, Salvation, and Freedom from sin was given in Love.
You can have this gift too. God loves you. He loved you enough to send his son Jesus to die for you. Even if you were the only one who would be saved he still would have sent his son to pay for your sins. All you have to do is pray...

How it started for me...

A long atime ago, when I was a child, I attended a Backyard Bible Club. I was about 6 years old and a friend of mine had bunch of us over for a week of fun and Bible related activity. This was the first time I heard the Good News of Jesus.
This Good News was presented with a "Wordless Book."

Gold Heaven: Gold reminds me of heaven and the streets of Gold that the Bible speaks about. God is in heaven and wants us to join Him there.
Black Sin: Black reminds me of the sin that each of us have comitted. The Bible says in Romans 3:23 "All have sinned" All sin is the same in the eyes of God. Even a seemingly small thing like a lie is a sin, and will keep you out of heaven.
Red Blood of Jesus: God wants us to join him in heaven. He sent his son Jesus to earth to pay for our sins. Jesus lived his life without sin, and his blood payed for our sins. He raised himself from the dead and joined God in heaven.
White Forgiveness: If you believe in your heart that Jesus died to wash you clean from your sin, you will be clean in the eyes of God and you will be able to join him in Heaven when you die.
Green Growth: If you believe that Jesus died to save you from your sin, you need to Grow, by praying to God, and reading the Holy Bible.

The Good Years..

Soon after I accepted Jesus into my heart, my parents, my brothers, and I joined a church. I grew up with good Christian friends my own age, and was active in the youth group. I continued to learn about God and His love. This continued all through my grade school, and high school years. Along the way, I started to drift away from a close relationship with God.

The Years Between...

Hebrews 13:5 "I will never leave you, nor forsake you"
Off to college. The drift from God continued at a faster pace durring this period in my life. I was away from home, and I did not connect with any Christians while I was away at school. God was still in control, and watching over me. I went through quite a few dark years. I wandered about, and tried to find meaning in my life. I questioned my faith in God, but could never dismiss what I had learned as a small child. I studied Objectivism as a political philosophy, but could not get past the dominant point of Athieism. All though my life I continued to pray and talk to God. I knew I was missing something, in my faith, I knew I was missing a fire for the Lord. I prayed that God would find a way, and show me a path back to him. I prayed this for many years without anything changing in my life, and without truely seeking God.

A Rebirth

Easter of 2003 my parents gave me the book Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I started to read this book because my parents had given it to me, and I knew that it was something important. It proposed to answer one of the biggest questions I had. At this point, I had a decent job, a great wife, two wonderful kids, and I still felt like I was missing it, like it was all somehow pointless.
I began reading this book during my lunch hour. I immediately "got" what I was looking for. Within days I had reaffirmed my purpose in life. I spent the next few months reading this book and beginning to refocus my life on the Lord. You can get more information on this book, as well as read the first few chapters online at PurposeDrivenLife.com
In September of 2003 I started a daily Bible reading program reading the Bible cover to cover in a year. I continued my walk of faith alone and wondered what the next step would be. I was not sure how to approach my wife with my renewed faith, so I continued my walk with God alone in solitude.

Transformation

In November of 2004 the company I was working for went out of business, and I was laid-off. I prayed that God would help me find a job. For the first time in my life, I acknowledged that God was in control, and that there was nothing that was in my power to control. I restricted my job search to places that were within 30 minutes of my home so that I would be able to have dinner with my family. There were a few job leads farther away, but I did not peruse them.
God had a job picked out for me, It was a slow and trying process but the first company I had sent my resume into, only days after being layed-off, hired me 3 months later. It fit all the things that I thought I wanted, God blessed me more than I could have asked for. I was 20 minutes from home working for a big company, with regular hours doing the kind of work that I love.
A month after I started, I found the "Employees Bible Club" and started to get connected to a group of Christians for the first time in about a decade. About the same time, a friend from this site encouraged me to get connected with a body of believers. A few weeks later, I started attending a "Done by One" midweek church service and continued to get connected to Christians around me. By the start of the summer, my family and I had started attending regular services.
The church is a Bible based church with a "come as you are" philosophy. This has been a tremendous blessing in my life, God has continued to change, and transform my life.

Where do we go from here...

I continue to walk with the Lord daily. He has lead me and my family to move from where we were, to somewhere new to raise our Family. We found a great church athat we are part of, and some of our close family has made the move with us. The Lord has been working in my life to build my faith, and to trust in His plan for my life. He has also been teaching me that I need to wait for what has been revealed and promised to me to be fulfilled.
